What's New: 4.29.08

It’s been a busy week at the yarn shop. The weather continues to keep us in sweaters and socks. I got away last week to a warm spot with 5 friends which made my spirit a lot happier than those that have not been able to get some sunshine. I finished a great book entitled, Friday Night Knitting Club.

The story and its characters reminded me of the great community of knitters associated with the shop. The story chronicles the shops owner and the many women that join weekly at her shop. It’s a great read and I hear that Julia Roberts is producing and staring in the film version.

A heartfelt thanks to all the customers of Amazing Threads as they truly represent a great community of stitchers that gather often to share a smile and friendship with others that enjoy their craft.

Amazing Threads is proud to be a sponsor of Project Little Lambs.

We were proud to introduce this project at YarnOver and seek contributions of homemade afghans/blankets for use by clients of Cornerstone. Your gift of a hand-knitted or hand-crocheted, child-sized afghan can bring warmth and hope to a child torn from home. Carolyn, one member of our great community of knitters is a key supporter of this project and is donating time and resources to insure success.

Cornerstone's mission is to prevent domestic abuse. They provide children and adults a continuum of service that builds sustainable self-reliance and revives the human spirit. Cornerstone seeks to educate, advocate & lead the way to social change. In 2007, Cornerstone provided safety, support and education to 17,144 women, children, and men who had been exposed to domestic violence. The goal of Project Little Lambs is to collect 200 contributions of new, handmade children's sized afghans for use by Cornerstone clients by August 1st. The afghans will provide warmth & comfort to little ones at a time of upheaval. Somewhere in your community - maybe in your neighborhood - a family is in crisis. Your gift of a homemade afghan can bring love and hope into a home torn apart by violence.

Amazing Threads is sponsoring community knitting one Sunday a month and hopes many of our community knitters will focus on Project Little Lambs. Our goal is to collect 75 child sized blankets/afghans by August 15, 2008. That is only 20 per month by the 15th of August. We need only 70 of our wonderful community of knitters to knit one blanket each to make our goal. The minimum size of 28” by 32” makes this goal very achievable. Blankets of a larger size will also be appreciated. This is an opportunity for every level of knitter or crocheter. Pick a pattern (stop in the shop or search the net) and a washable yarn and get started.

Amazing Threads wants to REWARD your efforts by offering each knitter a 20% discount coupon, good on any in-stock yarn, pattern, or book for every afghan donated which is knit from yarn purchased at Amazing Threads. We have a great selection of acrylics, blends, and cottons in many weights of yarn that will make a great blanket for any child in need.
