What's New: 5.21.08

We have had a tremendous week at the shop. We survived a water leak in the back room, which produced an unexpected side effect (WE CLEANED OUT THE JUNK). We did have to store the many boxes from Plymouth and other vendors in the bathroom while we cleaned up the mess in the store room. The fans have dried most of the water up!

New boxes of yarn, our late spring arrivals are keeping Sara busy tagging all the new stock. 350-plus pounds of yarn and needles arrived from Plymouth.

Included in this shipment are new colors of Encore Boucle, multicolored Jeannee (great kids yarn which knits at Aran weight and is spun from 50% cotton & 50% acrylic; new multi colors and solids in Dreambaby DK; Knit Col was restocked in all colors, Encore is restocked. Sock yarn News: New colors in Sockotta, and Encore Sock in DK weight yarn. Also new from Plymouth is Rockin Sox, which is made of Bamboo and wool It has a very soft hand.and is a great buy at 12.00 for a pair of socks.

New samples from AslanTrends arrived. Tina and I are in love with the cabled shrug that knits up quick. A great fall project to start NOW. My photo does not do the garment justice. The capelet starts with a large rolled collar that frames the face and fits comfortably on the shoulders. The garment is easy to wear. Both Tina and I were able to wear the caplet and it was flattering. Of course, Tina looks GREAT in everything!

From the same pattern book I also love the tank designed by Melissa Leapman. Both samples are at the shop.

New books

Knitted Sock Sensations from booties to socks to legwarmer for kids and adults. Julie, a great customer is making several of the socks including booties and Mary Jane’s for adults. This is a great addition to any knit library.

Community Knitting was a great success last Sunday.

The group included 9 members this week and all were working on their Project Little Lambs blankets. Community Knitting occurs once per month at the shop. We received our first blanket donation today. All donations will be labeled with the stitcher's name and we hope to have pins available for all who donated as well. Our goal is now at 69 and counting!
