What's New: 5.27.10

It's been another amazing week at the shop. We had a great Shop Hop event and sold out of our limited edition handpainted yarn from Pagewood Farms. Each shop that participated in the Hop had a specialty color that will not be dyed for any other shop in the country. The yarn is special, too. The Alyeska 5 is worsted weight Merino and Cashmere (250 yards). In the past this yarn was only available in fingering weight sock yarn. I have 2 pairs of socks from this yarn and I have to say they are my favorites. Check out the great slouch hat and cowl that is featured at our shop. We have more Alyeska 5 on its way in our special color and will stock the yarn in the shop in the fall. The first 2 additional shipments are almost sold out.

Kids Knit Camp continues with Nancy Wynn for 3 days in June and August. Nancy is also continuing her Junior Knits on Wednesdays throughout the summer.

We will offer a 2-session Learn to Knit on Mondays.

The cute Vogue Ruffle Sleeved Vest begins June 21.

Knit with an Expert continues on Thursdays and the last Sunday in June. The Oblique Shawl with Yvonne starts June 27 as well.

It has jumped from spring into summer in just a week or so.. I am so glad I have my knitting all year round. My Know Knit Bags go everywhere with me.

FREEBIES AND RESOURCES

It turns out that we were having trouble getting some of our Lana Grossa pattern books. A tour of their website turned up a huge supply of great patterns, including one of our shop models knit in Taglia. I am also knitting a short sleeved summer cardigan using this yarn and I LOVE IT. It is a tape but unlike many of the tape yarns of old, this yarn is LIGHT. It is 100% cotton so it breaths but it is SO light..I am knitting it at 4 sts = 1" but the fabric it creates at 3.5 sts on a US 10 is beautiful as well.
