What's New: 6.2.10

It's official, summer is here. The calendar and our warm weather tell the same story. The farmer's marekts are open and there has been plenty of sunshine.

I am one of those knitters who knit for the pleasure of knitting. It's calming and relaxing and seems to de-stress me. I would look pretty funny doing yoga while sitting in traffic or in my chair enjoying a good movie after a long day of work.

Yes, I know I won't ever look like that woman!

But, I love that I look like this one.

The end result is only the by-product because of the satisfaction I receive from the process of knitting. I knit all year round and I bet at least 60-70% of our customers do the same. I often change fiber by the season as well, although wool blends are good all season knits.

My summer knitting schedule includes a couple of sweaters, a cowl or two and whatever else I can fit into my schedule. I knit everywhere I go.

I have spent the weekend PURGING my closet and all of my drawers..oh my goodness and that is putting it politely. I have been in my home for 21 years and have de-cluttered a few times but this was a "empty and start all over" purge. My husband also had to purge his "stuff." I am not sure who was more successful..but I am a "thrower and he is a "keeper." Ok...so what does that mean to me, you might ask?

When I purge at home, I purge at the store as well. As we get ready for the annual needlework market next week and as we anticipate our fall orders that will begin to arrive, we must make room. We filled the Loft a couple of weeks ago and will continue to add new each week. Another great reason to stop in the store.

Sweater Give-Away

We have amazing samples at the shop and people often ask us if we sell our samples. The truth is that most of us who knit the samples want to take them home when they are done hanging in our shop.

Each month during the summer we will be hosting a sweater Give-Away.

Our colorway is red and purple. June's Sweater Give Away was knit from a kit by Vivian Hoxbro- The Nihon Kimono.

Shop Hop

The winners for the six First Place Prizes and the Grand Prize from the Shop Hop were chosen from those who completed the shop hop and notified late last week.

Congratulations to Rebecca H. who won the First Place Prize from Amazing Threads. She was ecstatic over the size and quantity of her booty.

The Grand Prize worth more than $3000 in yarn, books, notions, needles and more was won by Betsy B of Woodbury. I will try to post a picture of the winner and her loot sometime this week.
