Wow, It has been a crazy day at the yarn shop. Boxes arrived, the pattern of the month disappeared from the computer, customers stopped in to search for rare yarn skeins, others needed help figuring out their pattern or picking up a stitch or two, and others came to our Tuesday afternoon and evening stitch groups just to socialize and knit with others who share their passion.
So, I decided that I needed to plan out some knitting time this summer to relieve stress and get back to what I LOVE to do-KNIT. I have been watching the Olympic Trials in swimming and decided we need to plan an Olympic Knit Challenge! It will run similar to the Knit Along that the Yarn Harlot started in 2006.
The rules are simple.
1. Pick a project that will challenge you but that can be completed between 8/08/08 (OPENING CEREMONIES) and 8/24/08 (CLOSING CEREMONIES). You don't have to be an expert knitter to participate. New knitters could choose a garter stitch baby sweater or a blanket for charity. If you are experienced, pick something that you really want to get done in 16 days. Don't pick something that will DRIVE you crazy! This is for fun!
2. You can swatch but cannot cast on before the flame is lit & must finish before the flame goes out. It's like Olympic training camp.
3. Work on that project every day/night as you are glued to the television coverage of the Beijing Olympics.
4. Register your name and project with Amazing Threads at info@Amazing-Threads.com by 8/07/08.
5. All registrants may submit a photo of their completed work by 8/28/08 to be eligible for the drawing for a $100.00 gift certificate.
6. HAVE FUN!
