What's New: 7.23.08

Wow, It’s another great week in the yarn shop. Boxes are continuing to arrive and we are busy completing a mini-remodel at the store. This week we tore down the wall of hand painted yarn to make room for new fixtures and to create an environment for our customers which will include better lighting, plus great shopping and display space. Please excuse the mess you may encounter at the shop in the next week or so. It will be worth it when it is all done!

Unfortunately, the remodel was also due to the amount of product theft we have been experiencing. Just this past weekend one of CiD’s new Hat Box Models walked away from the counter right in front of the register. It seems cameras are just not enough. So, we are moving the needles and notions behind the desk. I apologize in advance to anyone that may be inconvenienced or offended by this move. Any of the staff will be glad to get anything you are interested in looking at or purchasing.

We know that the majority of our customers are extremely honest and trustworthy. It’s a shame that a few spoil it for the majority. On the flip side, one of our great customers called me today to say I had not charged her for one of her skeins of yarn. This call was great for my spirit and puts it all in perspective. I would be remiss if I did not thank the majority of you for your happy dispositions and continued patronage. Both the staff and I appreciate your support of our local yarn shop.

We have noted that more and more of you are coming in now to pick out yarn and supplies to make that wonderful fall or winter garment. These are smart folks as they will work on their projects now and can wear them this fall or winter. As I have noted for weeks, our fall yarns are arriving daily and will continue through mid-October. The yarn companies are at the mercy of the mills, shipping, gas prices, and customs. As always, some yarns will arrive on time and others may be a bit late. This week's new yarns are GREAT.

Ravelry Tip of the Week from Yvonne: Found “In The Tip Jar” in “This Week in Ravelry #24” is a thread with Ideas for Christmas and other gift wrapping of hand knits. Some very clever ideas. Also note the thread on how to block silk.

As of today our customers and staff have made and donated 45 blankets to the Cornerstone Project Little Lambs. YEAH! Only 25 more to make our goal of 70!

What's NEW?

Two HUGE boxes from Mountain Colors which includes their new colors: Moccasin Trail, Gray Wolf, Wild Horse, Sandstone & More. We also received Mountain Colors new Winter Lace (50 wool/50 silks) which is quite a steal at $38 for 1200 yards.

PLUS we opened a GIANT box of Roving in 4 oz skeins of 100% Targhee Top-Spinners you have got to see the colors of this roving.

Lornas Laces: We received a new limited supply of our Shepherd Worsted Minnesota Color (crimson & gold) which is dyed specifically for our shop. Also on hand, Shepherd Sock and Worsted in the specialty color: Franklin’s Panopticon.

Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Bulky restocked, including the new variegated colors.

Classes: Nancy's Paradise City Pillow is in the shop! Great Class starts July 30, 2008.

SOMC Support Group is Monday, July 28, 2008 6-8 PM.

We are working on the new class schedule and expect to go live by mid-August!
