What's New: 7.29.09

I can't believe that in 6 weeks it will be Labor Day weekend and the kids will be returning to school. Where has our summer gone? Our weather has been crazy and the Minnesota State Insect (THE MOSQUITO) is now in full swarm.

We have great plans for the fall knitting season at Amazing Threads.

In September we will welcome knit designer Jane Slicer Smith from Australia, along with her new book Knit the Colors of Australia Swing, Swagger, Drape. Jane has designed great sweaters, coats, vests and shawls for Trendsetter for many years. Tina and I got to see all of the garments from her new book at market. They are simple, yet flattering to all figure types. She adds interest to her garments with texture and color.

Swing, Swagger & Drape will be released in October but we will have copies in September. The book is being published in both hard copy & paper copy. Jane has agreed to autograph copies to individuals (your name included) if you purchase the hard bound coffee table edition ($39.95). Softcover are $24.95. We will be hosting a fashion show & book signing event on Tuesday, September 22 and at least one workshop on Wednesday, September 23.

FALL YARN TASTING: On Saturday, October 5 we will have our annual Fall Yarn Tasting. We will showcase new yarn and projects. We have great garments planned for this event and are knitting furiously to WOW you in October.

Our annual Fall Retreat at Grandview Lodge is scheduled for November 13, 14, & 15, 2009. Details will be published next week. Our planned retreat project will be the Textured Drape Vest or Sweater designed by Jane Slicer Smith. At market I tried this sweater on and fell in love with the style, drape and flattering fit. This will be a great addition to anyone's wardrobe.
