What's New: 8.4.10

Lots of commotion at the shop these days as we get the floor ready for fall knitting. Please excuse the mess. We try to keep the loot in check but that doesn't always happen.

I am still working on a few summer projects as well. If it continues to be this warm, I may be wearing summer duds until November.

ANY SUGGESTIONS? We are also working on the new fall class schedule which we hope to have out in early September. If there are classes that you want to see taught at the shop, please email me your suggestions.

REGISTRATION for the 2010 Grandview Retreat begins 8/4/2010 for last year's participants and 8/10/2010 for ALL. Watch the web for details or stop in the shop to pick up a registration form. The retreat is limited in size. Don't delay if you want to attend.

CLASSES WITH SPACE:

Inserting a Zipper with Susan Rainey is a one session class on August 7. In this class you will actually knit a sample and insert a zipper. Zippers are big this fall on all kinds of garments including the new Hobo Bag by Noni.

A handmade pair of booties make a special gift for that special newborn. Join Nancy for a one session class Baby Bootie class on August 14.

Nancy is again doing her Kids Knitting Camp on August 18-20. Students can choose their own projects and Nancy provides the snacks and the fun.

Freebies & Resources

Everyone needs a new baby bootie pattern once in a while. These Grandmother Own Booties will be quick to knit.

Or try these Baby Eyelet socks.

Dancing Ewe has two cute free patterns on their website: A Lacy Summer Tank and a great pair of wrist warmers. Both are knit in DK and the wrist warmers would be wonderful in any of our angora yarns.

What's New?

At least 18 boxes have arrived in the last two days and we are getting it checked in and marked as quickly as possible. New Rowan yarns include Cocoon, Silk Twist, & Drift.

Cocoon is a wonderful merino and mohair blend that produces a great fabric. It is featured in the Rowan 48 Magazine and has its own pattern book to support the yarn.

Silk Twist is a heavy worsted with great sheen and it's own Rowan booklet.

Drift is a new addition to the Big Wool line and includes blended marled colors.

We received the NEW COLORS in Stonehedge FiberMill's Shepherds Wool and they are wonderful. Also new are some Fair Isle hat kits. This yarn is spun, dyed and hanked in Michigan.

Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool now comes in XL which is a chunky weight version of Lavolds wonderful wool/silk fiber. As always Lavold provides great pattern support for her yarns with Book 21.
