What's New: 8.27.08

The Minnesota State Fair is here and that means school is just around the corner and fall is not far behind. Most of us will change our routines as the season's change and it gets dark sooner.

The nights are cooler and I am gravitating toward more substantial projects. II started on the Moebius Cape from Cat Bordhi's first book, The Treasury of Magical Knitting," knit in Mountain Colors Moguls, Mounta! in Goat and Mohair. I will keep you posted on my progress.

I have also started my panel jacket for the retreat. All of those registered for the retreat will get an email this weekend with yarn ideas and pattern hints for our chosen project. Retreat is full and a waiting list is being assembled.

Olympic Challenge Knitting: Originally 48 people signed on for the challenge. To date I have 14 confirmations of completed projects. Projects must be photographed and emailed to me at the shop by August 30, 2008 to be eligible for the drawing for the gift certificate.

While I know that many of our customers and a teacher or two entered their projects in the Minnesota State Fair, we have learned that Katie Bednartz, our 12 year old knitter, has won FIRST PLACE at the State Fair for her Knitting Pure and Simple top down hoodie. She did a beautiful job on it. CONGRATS TO KATIE!

Class Highlights:
The class schedule is on the web and classes are filling. September classes with openings include: The Lacy Leaf Shawl (a personal favorite that brings me many compliments); The great hooded wrap cardigan knit in Frog Tree Alpaca Merino (one of the softest sweaters in the shop); Patchwork Baby Blanket (a great family heirloom); The Guenevere (a perfect sweater that will become your favorite) and the Einstein Jacket (great for fall to early winter and requires only garter stitch knitting).

What's NEW!

Well, there are just so many boxes that have come and are yet to be unpacked, I just don't know where to begin with this week's highlights. All of our Alpaca Grande arrived from Plymouth. The Tweed and handpaints remain my favorites. Nine (9) huge boxes came from JCA today. We will now be carrying LOPI and LOPI Lite. I caved. It has not been my favorite yarn to knit on, but it is the favorite for many of our customers. Sooo-We are now carrying a full selection of both of these yarns. Portrait from JCA, the variegated Mohair, Broadway (beaded Mohair/Wool which is dynamite felted as well), Blizzard and Regal Alpaca also arrived. 10 boxes are still in the back from Pagewood Farms well! Please stop in soon to get your fiber fix!

The new Interweave Knits Release: KNIT TO BE SQUARE

Do you have a lot of WIP's (Works in Progress)? Lace Knitters Group has a discussion going on with ways to manage your projects and get something done-or find others with the same-or worse-problem.
