What's New: 9.16.09

Don't miss our event with Jane Slice Smith this Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 6-8 pm.

Meet Jane and check our her designs. Jane and Trendsetter have provided many garments from Janes book, "Swing Swagger Drape" and current pattern inventory. We will books on hand which are available for purchase and Jane will personally autograph your copy! The event is open and no registration is required. The blast is being sent early so that I can share our shop and our city with Jane who arrives from Seattle tonight.

There are still a couple of openings for the Wednesday workshops. Call the shop to register.

Wednesday, September 23

9 a.m.-12 p.m. Texture
Traveling stitches, cables, bobbles & bells. All of these create raised stitches on to and across one's knitting. The class will explain how these textures are created and how they are often used to enhance designs. Understanding is the key to enjoyed these techniques. Learn how texture can be applied to body shaping techniques. Jane uses many of these techniques in her new book.

1:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Simple Intarsia
Working vertical stripes, casting on in color blocks, joining colors and securing ends are all the tricks of the trade to be successful at Intarsia. Students only need to have good stockinette stitch knitting skills.

Intarsia is not difficult but appears a scary knit. Master the vertical stripe and then step onto reading and following a graph.

Fall is official on September 22, 2009 even though my needles have been clicking away on some great fall and winter yarns for a couple of weeks now. Although our calendars often state that he first day of fall begins September 1, if you ask the SUN, autumn officially starts tomorrow after the autumnal equinox.

There are 94 days until Christmas and while my gift list is no shorter, I love the thought of hand made gifts this holiday season. It seems a lot of my customers think that way. We enjoy the pleasure and process of knitting and a gift to to give when we are done!

We have lots of inspiration at the shop and more yarn than ever. A great customer, Beth, commented today that she has never seen the shop look better (Thank You Tina and Staff). I replied we have never had so much inventory. This is the fullest you will see the shop this year and I think I purchased more this season than ever before. All of our fall yarn is here (not all out of the boxes yet) and the shop floor has been redone. New models are up all over the shop.

What's New?

Check out the new entrelac shawl knit in Jojoland Rhythm. We have 3 new sample scarves in Melody as well.

In addition to new yarn, I have to share some of the great new notions that have arrived.

Walker Mesh Bags to carry your treasures.

Notions Bags from Frabjous Fibers.

New From Lantern Moon: Tape Measures and Knit Out Boxes

Fall classes are filling up quickly. Even though we offer at least 2 per night, there are some that are already full. Register online or at the shop.
