What's New: 9.31.09

The leaves are beginning to change and the weather definitely has let us know that Fall is HERE. I am writing this from Arizona. I have come to clean out the last of my mom's things from her condo in central Phoenix so it can be rented since the market prevents a sale at this time. It has been more than 5 years since she passed and still I have difficulty parting with "things" that I don't need and am unsure of where to put or store. Today I happened upon another box full of "crafts (knitting,too) and sewing stuff." I touched the needles and paged through the patterns and I remembered the afghan she knit. This process only serves to remind me how important our craft is..not only do we enjoy the process of knitting and creating, but often we create a memory and moments with our knitting that remain long after we are gone. We have lots of mother/daughter knitters that frequent the shop and I am pleased to see them share their passion. So once again, I plan on a handmade gift holiday season. I am starting on lots of small easy to finish projects that won't cause my girls or their families to throw me a wooden smile when they unwrap their packages.

We had such a wonderful time with Jane Slicer Smith and all of her fantastic designs (Swing Swagger Drape) that flatter every figure type that we invited her back in January 2010 & she squeezed us in- Information and dates will be forthcoming. We have signed Swing Swagger Drape books on sale at the shop.

Just a reminder, there are only 85 days until Christmas. Lots of the stores have holiday decorations up already. This is a little too early for me....

If you need inspiration for your holiday knitting, stop in the shop. We have lots of new accessories on display. And remember, Tina is the scarf queen and loves putting together new and funky yarns together.
