What's New: 10.14.09

I am sure we have covered at least three seasons in weather this past month. Record warmth the beginning of September followed by cool fall temperatures and then November and December snow and cold in OCTOBER, no less. My response to the snow is just plain "YUK." I am not putting on boots and I have refused to drag out a winter coat YET. The one good byproduct of this unseasonably cold weathe! r is my desire to nest. My nesting instincts continue and I have thumbed through a number of patterns and books to plan my next six months of knitting. Of course I will add gifts to the queue in time for the holiday season.

We will be hosting a HOLIDAY GIFTS INSPIRATION EVENT on Sunday October 25 ~ 12-4 pm

The shop will be full of samples that are quick and easy to knit and make ideal gifts. We will fill the air with holiday music and have some great holiday treats to share.

I have ordered lots of books and patterns that will fill the gift giving void for any knitter (One More Skein, 101 One-Skein Projects, Knitted Gifts, Weekend Knits & lots of Amazing Threads patterns, too). A handmade gift is the best gift of all. Stop in to fill out your HOLIDAY GIFT LIST as well. You can leave it at the store and we will share it upon request or you can give it to family and friends so you get WHAT YOU WANT during this gift giving holiday.

There will also be a few surprises that afternoon, so stop in and catch the holiday spirit. There will also be a great Tunisian Crochet demonstration.

What's New?

Our Fall Yarn Tasting was a wonderful success. We were busy from the time we unlocked the door until almost 9:00 pm on Friday. I think we finally got the store put back together late Sunday. Thanks to all for their patience. Our fall event boasted 19 projects this season which was our biggest event yet. All of the samples remain on display. The two biggest hits were 2 fall wraps, a chunky knit scarf and the Debbie Bliss Riding Jacket.

We are well stocked on most yarns for any of the projects in the shop. This wrap is knit in Rowan Alpaca Cotton. Check out the Rowan website for a great free pattern using this wonderfully light but warm yarn.

Kim Hargreaves new book PRECIOUS & Rowans Greatest Knits are at the shop as well.
