Staff

staffMeet the Staff of Amazing Threads

Some of the staff wear many hats or at least we think we do.  All of us knit and some of us crochet as well.  We think we have the knowledge and skills to answer most questions.  However, if not we gladly call one of our knitting experts or one of the many multi talented teaching staff that share their passion with our customers in clinics and classes.

Bobbi

Bobbi (BK)—Bobbi is the owner of the shop and works the floor and occasionally teaches a class because she has designed something she wants to share.  Bobbi creates her own designs and some patterns end up in the shop or on Ravelry.  She loves to experiment, create, and enjoys fiber. She can rewrite patterns to fit when needed and knows about every fiber in the shop.  She knows most of the yarn by name and yardage which drives the staff crazy.  She is responsible for the weekly blasts sent to all of our customers.  She tries to greet customers by name, but her "sometimers" brain can be stubborn.

Cindy L (CLL)— Cindy joined the staff in 2012. She is a doting mother and grandmother who loves to knit.  She has a stressful "day job" as a marriage and family therapist and enjoys working at the shop for its wonderful atmosphere and because it is a "happy place."

carolek

Carole K (CK)—Carole has been with AT since just after we opened but doesn't like being referred to as one of our senior staff members.  She is a great knitter who will try any new project.  Carol has a great eye for color and loves to put projects together when she is not running after one of her many grandchildren or chasing a golf ball on her days off. The staff love Carole for her keen wit and positive attitude.

debhuttonDeb H (DH)— Deb lives in Elk River with her husband Denny and have a 22 year old son Mark and an 18 year old daughter,  Teddy.  She is currently a Montessori school teacher and has taught many of her students to knit and crochet.  She enjoys spenidng time at her cabin in Park Rapids on her time off.  SHe loves to read and bike ride.  However, her addiction to knitting sometimes interferes with her other hobbies.  She loves sharing her passion with knitters at the store and teaching our "Learn to Knit" classes.  Some of her favorite projects are the kindergarten graduation gifts she makes for her students each year.  Her grandmother taught her to crochet as a little girl and she loved to help her spin the yarn and watch how fast her hands moved when she worked.  As an adult she took up knitting and now passes on her skills the way her grandmother did to her

lindsey

Lindsey - Lindsey is the youngest member of our staff and most in tune with social media and what's happening in our knitting community.  She updates Ravelry and Facebook to keep our customers in the loop.  She loves color work, mittens, socks, and more.  She wears two hats at the shop as she works the floor and teaches our FairIsle classes, mittens, socks and more.  All this on top of her day job and raising two wonderful dogs.

judy

Judy S (JS)- Hi!  I'm Judy, full time Mom & wife with a true passion/addiction for knitting & yarn over the past 4-5 years.  Yes, I may be a newbie but I'm thick into the craft!  On occasion I work as a nurse @ Mpls Children's Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit.  Please don't come & visit me there, I'm @ Amazing Threads as often as I can be for a breath of fresh air.  Besides my family, friends &  God I'm able to stay grounded in the crazy world.  Hop to see you soon, @ the store that is!

Angel - Angel is the shop's manager and one of our fastest knitters.  She keeps the yarn and our shop looking beautiful. She tries to keep the shop and Bobbi organized (It's a tough job).  Angel knits MANY of the shop samples and generates ideas and patterns for our samples and monthly patterns.   Angel works her magic as new stock arrives to create displays and organize the shelves so that they are easy and pleasant to shop.  If you love the way the shop looks or how something is displayed - Let her know.

Jenny K (JK)—Jenny works the sales floor occasionally and is our Crochet Expert.  Jenny teaches some classes and does most of our 1:1 crochet private lessons.  Jenny loves to knit and crochet and also spins.  Jenny is a day brightener and we love that she works at the shop when she can.  Her real life consists of taking care of her husband and 2 sons and working with disabled adults.

MaryLou

MaryLou E (ME)—Learned the American way to knit at age 11 (55+ years ago) by working on a green worsted weight cardigan. This project kept me occupied the entire summer and more! Have been knitting ever since. Worked and taught several classes in two different yarn shops in northern Michigan the past 8 years. I recently moved to Minneapolis to be near my daughters. Immediately checked out every yarn shop around, and loved Amazing Threads! So happy to be here.Mary Lou works the floor and teaches at the shop.

Sara G —joined the staff in 2012.  She is an avid knitter and a lawyer.  She used to skate in roller derby and has lived in various parts of the US although she grew up in Brooklyn Park.  She has a keen wit and loves helping customers pick new projects.

Teaching Staff

Some of the staff that work the floor also teach.  Those include Deb H, Mary Lou, Jenny & Amy.

yvonneYvonne E. (YE)—has been knitting for many more years than most, and teaches a significant number of classes at the shop. She also has taught classes at the Minnesota Knitters Guild and Yarnover and other classes in Iowa, Wisconsin and South Dakota. She is responsible for a group that meets at Culvers in Coon Rapids that has donated thousands of knitted items to local charities and a learn to knit class at Curves in Brooklyn Park. She loves to knit lace, socks, and sweaters but enjoys projects with new techniques and construction as well. Yvonne also teaches most of our technique classes. Look for her as Red Hat Knitter on Ravelry.

Cathy K (CKos)—Cathy devotes her shop time to teaching.  She teaches many of our classes and knits samples for the shop as well.  She loves teaching Learn to Knits and Knit with an Expert.   Her seasoned skills as a knitter are well appreciated by her students.  She often modifies patterns to knit in the round to make knitting easier and faster for her students.  She also offers a once monthly WIPs (Works In Progress) class to help her students finish projects or start a new one.

Susan R. (SR) —Susan R.  IS an award winning instructor with many published patterns.  She is known in the area for her expertise and exquisite knitting.  Check out her blog at www.theraineysisters.com to see her latest knits.

deborahc

Deborah McQueen Coder (Deb) - I learned how to knit at age 9 while in Girl Scouts and reconnected with knitting in my 20s before moving back to Germany after college. My husband would say I have been knitting continually since then. Being an artist, knitting satisfies my love of color and texture--besides being portable and wool dries more quickly than oil paint. As an instructor, I share my knowledge and love of knitting. Favorite type of yarn? Tweed! Favorite color? I lean toward green, but love them all!

SandyC

Sandy Christopherson - Sandy’s love for a variety of fiber arts began to develop when she was a little girl. She provides 1-on-1 instruction and teaches the Learn to Crochet class. Giving customers the assistance and encouragement they need with a project puts staffing our knit/crochet Help Desk among her list of favorite things to do. She enjoys learning new techniques to share with others, doing custom work, and knitting with new patterns and fibers. When she isn’t creating a sample for the shop, you’ll find her knitting for family and friends.

Aimee M (AM)- is a graduate of West Point and an attorney who loves to knit. Aimee found our shop through her mom Anne who loves to knit and loves our shop.  Aimee loves FairIsle and new knitters.  She teaches some of our color work classes and Learn to Knit sessions.
