Staff

Meet the Staff of Amazing Threads

Most of the staff of AT wear many hats or at least we think we do. All of us knit, some of us crochet as well. We think we have the knowledge and skills to answer most of your questions. If not, we will gladly call on one of our experts (Yvonne, Nancy W., Thora Lee, Sara W., or Margaret) or one of the many multi-talented teaching staff that also share their time and talents with the shop, on the floor, in the yarn, and behind the counter. The initials of the staff who teach the classes are listed on the web and in our class brochure.

Bobbi (BK)—Bobbi owns the shop, works the floor and occasionally teaches a class because she has designed something she needs to teach before publishing. Bobbi creates most of the patterns for our projects of the month because she loves to experiment and enjoys creating with fibers. Bobbi knows most of the yarn by gauge and yardage which drives the staff crazy. She loves to knit creatively and rarely follows a pattern as written. She is responsible for the email communications to all the customers as well.

Carole K (CK)—CK is part of our teaching staff but also likes to refer to herself as a senior staff member. Carol has been part of AT since just after we opened. She is a great knitter who shares herself with her two grandbabies twice a week as well. Carol has a great eye for color and loves to put new projects together. CK teaches our socks on one circular needle class and a few others when she can fit in a class or two. Check out her felted alpaca mittens!

Cathy K (CKos)—CK works at the shop evenings and weekends but also teaches classes, too. Cathy’s Lucy bag class always fills early as do her many felted bag classes. She is an excellent knitter and has a great eye for both color and style. She knits many garments for her college-bound daughter who lets her know what’s hip-to-knit.

Jenny K (JK)—has been with AT for several years. She is an avid knitter and our trusted crochet expert. We depend on Jenny to answer most of our crochet questions. Jenny loves to knit lace and socks and her projects speak volumes about her knitting skills. Jenny teaches our basic and advanced learn to crochet classes as well as individual projects. Jenny is also available for individual crochet lessons.

Margaret S. (MS)—joined our staff in 2006 and has been a welcome addition. Margaret has knit samples for the store since we opened in Osseo. She is a seasoned knitter with expert skills. She often figures out patterns for customers and staff. Margaret loves to knit socks, bags and more. Check out her Crazy Quilt Stocking and fingerless gloves classes.

Nancy Mc (NM)—Nancy works on the floor and behind the scene. She is an avid knitter and maintains our customer lists. Nancy has a good eye for color and patience is her virtue. Nancy loves to knit and like most of us has several projects going at once. Her two teenage daughters keep her full of fresh ideas for new projects.

Nancy W. (NW)—Long time resident knitter, expert and designer is responsible for all of our introductory and teen classes. She teaches all of our Learn to Knit and advanced learn to knit classes and enjoys developing classes that teach multiple skills. She teaches many of our felted animals (Hedgehog, Flamingo, Sheep, etc) and sweater classes. She also offers a “Knit with the Expert” series on a weekly basis.

Tina E. (TE)—Tina is part of the high energy part of our team. She is always up, has an abundant amount of energy, and has a great eye for color and what’s new. If you want to put something new together, Tina is the one to ask. Tina teaches our felted cut flowers class and her creative skills are well showcased in the flowers that she has created.

Thora Lee J. (TLJ)—is a seasoned knitter and designer. TLJ works on Tuesdays and runs our SSK and Knit Night groups. She is an expert knitter who is able to rework most any pattern for multiple sizes. TLJ teaches our socks on 2 circular needles classes, as well as many sweater, shawl, and vest classes. Thora Lee’s Socks on 2 Circs class fills quickly, so register early. She also offers a “Knit with the Expert” series on a weekly basis.

Sara W. (SW)—is a resident knitter who gets to knit more than any of the rest of us which makes us all jealous. Sara helps us get much of our stock labeled and out as soon as it arrives. She also knits many samples for the shop and makes our garments come alive. Sara has knit over 200 pairs of socks as well as hundreds of hats and lots of kids sweaters, vests, and more which she shares with those in need. Sara epitomizes the avid knitter we would all like to become.

Yvonne E. (YE)—has been knitting for many more years than most, and teaches a significant number of classes at the shop. She also teaches community education classes and is responsible for a group that meets at Culvers in Coon Rapids that has donated thousands of knitted items to local charities. She loves to knit lace, socks, and sweaters but enjoys fun new felted projects as well. Yvonne also teaches most of our technique classes and offers “Knit with the Expert” on Sunday afternoons.

Susan R. (SR) —is an award winning instructor with many published patterns. SR is well known in the area for her exquisite knitting and expertise. She teaches a variety of classes at the shop including finishing classes, sweaters, hats and the market squares bag.

Pam Y (PM)—Pam is a new crochet teacher that has taught her easy afghan class several times and has added a crochet flower and hat to this winter’s schedule.
